Nethros Beginner Guide: Progression, Virtues, and Classes

Leveling your character

Character EXP comes from quests, fighting monsters, and other activities. Press Tab and check the lower-right area of the screen to view your current level and any unspent stat points.

Stat points matter for General Virtues because individual Virtues can require specific stat thresholds. For example, a Virtue may require 10 Vitality or 10 Might before it becomes available.

Use Assignments for repeatable progress

Assignments are the main repeatable leveling activity. Completing one grants a reward chest that can contain gear, ingredients, and crafting blueprints.

Delivery Assignments are generally the faster starting option. Escort Assignments take you into NPC combat, making them useful when you also want to earn Weapon EXP with your equipped weapon.

Assignments also increase your Assignment rank. Higher ranks let you take on more difficult Assignments with better rewards.

Unlock Virtues and weapon skills

Rest, then press M to open the Virtue menu.

General Virtues

General Virtues appear on the left side of the menu once your stats meet their prerequisites. You can equip up to 15 General Virtues at once.

Before committing stat points, check the prerequisite for the Virtue you want. A Virtue locked behind a stat requirement will not appear until that threshold is met.

Weapon skill trees

Each weapon has its own skill tree, displayed through nodes in the middle of the M menu. Unlocking a weapon-skill node requires both Weapon EXP and Virtue Points.

Weapon EXP is earned by fighting with that weapon and defeating PvE or PvP enemies. Virtue Points come from leveling and general game progression.

Getting a class

Classes are unlocked through a weapon's skill tree rather than through character level alone. To unlock one, you must be at least Level 20, progress through the relevant weapon tree to its Class Extension node, and unlock the weapon skills and Virtues leading to that node.

After reaching the required Class Extension, find that class's trainer to complete the unlock. For example, the Rapier tree includes the Witch Hunter Extension.

  1. Reach Level 20.
  2. Rest and press M.
  3. Select the skill tree for the weapon tied to your intended class.
  4. Earn Weapon EXP and Virtue Points, then unlock the required nodes up to the Class Extension.
  5. Locate the appropriate class trainer.

A practical progression route

Start with Assignments to build character EXP while collecting gear, ingredients, and blueprints from completion chests. Choose Delivery work when speed is the priority, or Escort work when you want combat opportunities for Weapon EXP.

As you level, review your stat points before spending them so that you can meet the prerequisites for desired General Virtues. Continue using your chosen weapon in combat to advance its separate skill tree, then work toward its Class Extension once you reach Level 20.
